The Act of Charity

By investing in a cause you deem worthwhile, you reap bountiful benefits. However, have you ever thought about investing your time and energy into your fellow friend? Can you show "kindness and tolerance in judging others" even when you feel that they do not meet up to your expectations? It is far too easy to criticize, but it takes a wiser, prudent person to refrain from criticism and simply observe the potential in someone. Any fool can expel large quantities of critcism, but a true visionary will see the exemplary traits in someone. "Not he who has much is rich, but he who gives much." (Fromm, Erich) Giving is not just monetary but it includes what you have to say about people. Give many words of encouragement and refrain from a detailed, critical assessment of someone and your life will be enriched! “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” (Sir Winston Churchill)

Luke 6:38 Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Think about this verse in light of giving or investing love, kindness and consideration into others around you then consider the fact that we are told that we will receive in direct proportion to what we give.

What a great post, Debbie! I just told someone yesterday that giving is the foundation of being a great Christian. We can never be effective without giving.

While we were gone on WAY tour, you really got busy with the posting. I like them all. The sailing quote was great, too.
